This our second time at the Royal Decameron Montego Beach resort, and it was just as beautiful as I remembered it. We stayed here last year too for a week and it was better than last year, what a perfect holiday spot!
The staff around the entire resort was really friendly; wait staff, water sports, bartenders, entertainment, security, etc. They would always smile and say hi as you walked by, some of them are always singing to themselves. One thing I can say about this resort is they maintain it VERY well. Everywhere you look someone is sweeping, or cleaning up cups or painting railings and balconys, etc. They don't let it deteriorate one bit. The place is gorgeous, I love the open air concept. The AC in our room was highly upgraded from last year. A brand new unit at the top of the wall that lets you control every little thing with a remote - temperature, fan speed, fan direction. I was very impressed.
The food was really good, almost even better than last year. People need to keep in mind when they travel here and write their reviews that this is a 3.5 star resort. It's not the Ritz. You won't be served everything on a golden platter and there is no one to offer your hot towels to wipe your butt with. Come here expecting to get what you pay for. It's definitely the best deal in town. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all fabulous. There was a different theme each night for the buffet dinner. I loved Jamaican, Mexican and Oriental nights.. We ate at the Souk one night and I had the steak and it was really good!
The drinks from the bar are plentiful, delicious, and very strong! There is no watering down on this resort... They have a whole assortment of drinks on the wall menus and it tells you exactly what's in them... so just pick something that sounds good and go for it. You probably won't be disappointed.
The beaches are just as beautiful as I remember. If you've never been before, note they are smaller than you probably imagine, but they're gorgeous. And you can snorkel right off of them. During the day we of course took advantage of the ocean, which is the point of being on an island... and went for several beach night swims. It's nice to kick back in the ocean with a red stripe listening to the band play on stage.
All in all our trip was excellent. If I got to Jamaica again next year there's no doubt this is where I will stay.
