Our first trip to the Dominican Republic was a really amazing one. I would definatly reccommend this resort to anyone as I really have very few complaints. The service at the Riu was fantastic and went above and beyond our expectations.
ROOMS: The rooms are all very nice and spacious. We requested an extra bed so we recieved a room that could accomodate that. I would reccomed you request a room close to the pool/reception area because some of the buildings can go pretty far back.
RESTAURANT: The buffet food is fantastic. Anyone who complains of the food is out of their minds because there is so much variety, with something for everyone especially picky eaters. The food tastes amazing, much better than Cuba. And, the service in the restaurant is fabulous. Get to know some of the servers they are all such great people.
The a la carte was good but nothing to go out of your way to go to because it is quite similar to the buffet but they serve it to you. The Italian isn't very Italian but the food is still very good.
ACTIVITIES: The Animacion staff are constantly keeping you busy. Join in the games and you will really make the most of your stay. One of the most fun times were doing the volleyball, dance classes and bingo. Go around and find watersports early because there are many things to do there! Such as paddle boats and kayaks. It is $12 to go on the banana boat and I tell you it is worth it!!! It was one of the highlights of our trip.
ENTERTAINMENT: The nightly entertainment is great and we looked out for what was at the other resorts. For example, we skipped Karaoke night to go to Grease at the other resort.
BEACH: The beach is very nice but not very turquoise water-white sandish. But still a great place to hang out at. Go out early because when the sun starts to go down around 4:30 there is less room because of all the shade. The Mambo has the biggest and nicest beach with a beach bar!
POOLS: The pools are gorgeous and huge with lots of activites going on around it. There are lots of spots but most of them are in the shade.
BARS: There is a bar about every ten feet with quick service!! The best is the bar near the snack bar where you can sit and is near the pool.
The only complaint was the weather in which is rained most days. Although they were tropical rains lasting about ten minutes it was somewhat inconvient. Another problem was the lack of people ages appox. 13-20 to meet.
But overall the stay was amazing and I definatly suggest you go and book yourself a vacation here and take lots of pictures because you will miss it!
