Adventurers who went to Grand Sunset Princess when it first opened. I am sure they experienced a lot of problems. My review is about how it is now. After check in, we grabbed a bite at the buffet and went to the room. Once the luggage arrived we changed into our beach outfits and went to the beach. It is a very wide beach with a lot of palapas and plenty of chairs. Wait service on the beach was excellent, best I had ever seen. Our tipping helped. But for that service, you would tip. Occasisonally we would go to the beach bar to get our own drinks just to get up and move around.There were two bartenders, one for the waitresses and one for the counter. However, the longest wait may have been five minutes. Also, if they knew how to make it, they would make it. Margaritas, mudslides, dirty monkeys, bushwackers, mojitos, etc. If they would not make something its likely because they did not know how.They had a lot of name brands, such as Absolut, Smirnoff, Barcardi, Jose, Jim Beam, Tangueray and a number of scotches and others. The brands at the beach bar were essentially the same as the lobby bar.In addition, if you wanted beer, it was Corona on tap (unless you got non-alcoholic, which was in cans). The Corona on tap was ice cold, even at the beach bar. ROOMS-The rooms were fantastic. One of the features I liked was that the bathroom had a sliding door and sliding windows that opened to the room. By opening both the windows and doors, air could circulate around the bathroom and help dry out swimsuits, etc. The water closet area had a separate opaque glass door for privacy. The mini-fridge was stocked with what ever you wanted. You would generally get a few Coronas (can), a number of various sodas, and three 1 litre bottles of water. The rooms were huge and the balcony to the pool was large. The beds were not too firm nor too soft, just right for a person with a bad back. Took a few minutes to work out the a/c operation but once that was figured out, you could get the room very cold. There was also a ceiling fan over the bed as well. All the lights and fans could be controlled while in bed, so you could cut on the bathroom light at night without waking up your spouse. THE FOOD-For breakfast and lunch, there were four buffets, two near the lobby and two by the beach. Large selection, food was very good, better than you usually see at an all-inclusive. We were there for 7 days and did not find it repetitive. For dinner, there were three buffets, one of the beach buffets became an a la carte. THE POOLS-Pools: The pool area is expansive. There are two large pools near the beach, both with bars. There are "river" like pools winding around the deluxe jr suites (where the swim out rooms are). There is also a couple of large pools in the middle of the resort, one of which is the party pool. I never made it to that pool but reports I heard indicated it would be a fun time. We have a pool in the backyard and generally prefer to sit on the beach when on vacation. However, if you like pools, you will not be disappointed. Overall, no one in our group could believe that this was the same resort with so many complaints (again, the recent travelers, not those who were there when it opened). We saw and experienced NONE of the issues so many have complained about. If you booked a vacation here, be glad you did. We would book here again without hesitation.
