The resort was very nice. Beautiful design, beaches and lagoon-type atmosphere. One third was closed off though, including 4 other restaurants, the gym, and a much larger pool including swim up bar. The stores closed randomly throughout the day. You got very different exchange rates on money depending on who exchanged it for you. The disco closed at 10 some nights, then 12 the next night, then 2 am, and the Disco bartender disappeared randomly. The 24-hour snacks seemed to run out at 2 am. Beer, or cerveza as we called it, ran out on two different nights. The music they played seemed to be only about 10-15 tracks and then repeated the entire time. Everything in Cuba now seems to cost 10 times as much as the last time I was there, about 5 years ago. The Cuban Convertible Peso, or made-up tourist money, costs much more than the normal peso, meaning they charge North American prices for everything except alcohol now. It seems like a lot of bad qualities, but the overall experience was very nice. The food was excellent, including the buffet and all the a-la-cartes.
